Build to Scale Program (B2S)

Purpose

Strengthen regional economies by enabling startups to start and grow through the Venture Challenge (funds for organizations supporting and enabling startup companies) and the Capital Challenge (increasing access to capital investments for technology-based startup companies).

Eligible Activities

B2S supports projects that:

• Build public and private capacity for entrepreneurs and innovators to invent, improve, and bring to market new products and services in critical, emerging, and transformative sectors and industries
• Expand regional knowledge ecosystems to realize economic and job growth
• Accelerate the growth of regional economies that are focused on industries of the future
• Catalyze regional leadership through technology-based economic development (TBED) strategies
• Empower communities to provide proof-of-concept and commercialization assistance to technology innovators and entrepreneurs
• Equitability and inclusively increase access to capital for technology-enabled entrepreneurs

Cities / Political Subdivisions of a State , Federally Recongized Native American Tribal Governments , States , Non-Profit Organizations , Institutions of Higher Education , Public-Private Partnership , Scence or Research Parks , Federal Laboratories , Venture Development Organizations , Economic Development Organizations

Eligible Organizations Note: States, Federally recognized Indian Tribes, Cities/political subdivisions of a state, Non-profit organizations, Institutions of higher education, Public-private partnerships, Science or research parks, Federal laboratories, Venture development organizations, Economic development organizations or similar entities, Any consortium of the aforementioned entities

Funding Note: 

• Venture Challenge: $300,000 - $2,000,000
• Capital Challenge: $400,000-$750,000

Match Note: 50% cost match is required
