Planning and Local Technical Assistance

Purpose

Planning and local technical assistance investments to support economic development, foster job creation, and attract private investment in economically distressed areas of the United States.

Eligible Activities

Planning: Creation and implementation of regional economic development plans designed to build capacity and guide the economic prosperity and resiliency of an area or region.

Local Technical Assistance: Strengthening the capacity of local or State organizations, institutions of higher education, and other eligible entities to undertake and promote effective economic development programs through projects such as feasibility studies, impact analyses, disaster recovery plans, and project planning.

Eligible Organizations Note: City / Township Governments, Nonprofits having 501c (3) status with the IRS, County governments, Public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, Federally recognized Indian tribes, State governments, Special district governments

NOTE: Projects in high-poverty areas are given precedence unless the project is of particular economic significance. To determine if your community is a high-poverty area, click here

Funding Note: Grants and loans up to $200,000 for environmental assessments; grants and loans up to $1 million for remediation

Match Note: 50% cost match is required for this program
